so what im after is info on a new gun!

ive 500 quid and want advice on what gun would suit me for hunting...

it has to be sturdy but light. .22 i also would like to get a scope and silencer ...

welcome to pw mate.if your looking for something thats not loud and lighter then you want to be looking for a airarms 410 or similar also you will need diving bottle or pump to charge it.i have the hw 100 but find it is heavy compared to the 410 but both would do the job as will other precharged rifles.what ever you decide good luck mate.have a look in gunsales section .

Am I right in thinking you want to go down the PCP route???

There are a number of single or multi shot rifles available, but all come with charging issues and therefore usually much higher costs than Springers.

Many good second hand guns (or complete set ups) available, probably the way with a £500 budget, but shop around and you can do it! :hmm:

welcome to the site pal. i will guess here but most people on this site will advise you to go for a pre charged air gun. for 500 quid you could get a brand new theoban evolution. a mate of mine just bought one it is light at full 12 foot pound and you can have a vortex silencer very quite and very accurate. and you get life time warranty on the gas strut as well so if something goes wrong you can get it sorted for no charge. which they very rarely go wrong any way. pre charged guns are good to some degree yes there is no recoil but gas ram rifles are virtually recoil free as well, pre charged's are accurate same as the gas rams, down side to pre charged you constantly have to refill the air chamber were gas rams dont need re-charging they are just like a spring powerd rifle but it is just compresed air and does not loose charge.

or even better. a BSA lightning or lightning XL these are spring powerd but can be very easily converted to a gas ram but they are just fine as spring and they are quite i had the lightning xl 3 years ago and could take rabbits down easily at 35 yards it has a small barrel and pretty much the whole barrel apart from the little bit were you load the pellet which is roughly a inch if that. you can buy these brand new for around 200 or so quid. but they are really worth the money you pay. but it is pointless haveing a rifle without a really good scope you can get a brand new nikko sterling for 40-50 quid in 3-9+46 front paralax adjustable which basicly helps to judge what distance thbe target is at. hope any of this has helped you out.

all the best of look to you and keep us all posted on your decission. good luck fella.

ill try to narrow it down guys,

im not really excited about a gas charged gun as i dont want the hassle of recharging, spring loaded are just too dam noisy , i could be persuaded for gas if it had a good shoot capacity , any chance of some pics of some guns/set ups???

like i said ive got 500 quid and i want a gun/scope and silencer if possible.

would also like a night scope but hey dont think 500 quid will cut it lol ...

as i have said mate gas rams are far better. you dont need to charge them up once they have been pumped up thats it. it acts in the same way as a spring powered rifle but next to know recoil really quite especially with a silencer on it. the only time you would ever need to pump it up again is when it gets serviced and if you ever get a fac licence they can be easily tuned up to past 30 foot pound.

for 500 quid you can get a brand new weihrauch hw 90 which i have they have a bit of weight to them but it helps balance the gun out or second hand theobans. forget the pre charged rifles you get a average of 80-100 shots per charge and if it looses charge on the field your stuffed. plus with temprature changes the gun can loose power or gain. seriosly pal gas ram rifles are the way forward. i have had pre charged guns, spring and now a gas ram and i would never get any thing other than a gas ram rifle ever again. ask others about gas rams even your local gun shop.

dam ive been scouting big time today and i had my heart set on a bsa ultra multi shot .22....

i was disheartened with the limited shot of about 40 hits but the reviews said it was gr8 at 4.8/5.0 .

i will look up the one you stated above... cheers...

its worth looking at the gas rams theoban are the main gas ram guns things like the fenman, evolution and sirocco. the fenman and sirocco are not made any more but you can buy them second hand from between 200-500 quid with scope the barrels are carbined and silenced. the weihrauch hw 90 is the one i have and i swear by it. then you have bsa lightning, meteor, and the lightning xl. all these are spring but you can get them for anything upto 300 quid and for 70 quid you can get a gas strut from theoban. trust me i am not talking bs and would not advise some one to buy something that is no good or naff. and talking purely on my experience.

Hi mate, welcome to the forum, get a secondhand daystate or bsa s10,both can be picked up for under £500 with scope silencer but you might have to buy a pump as well.

You wouldnt go far wrong with a falcon raptor if you wanted something a bit lighter, there very accurate, light and can be picked up very cheep, they go for around £300/£350 with scope and mod leaving plenty of money for charging gear.

Gas rams are ok but DO recoil just not as harshly as springers but then again a tuned springer knocks the pants off a gas ram, some people like them and some dont,i would defo get a pcp with your budget because the accuracy and ease of use is unreal.

There was a fn19 raptor on here for sale for £300 posted but its been sold, keep your eyes open and dont rush into anything, you could also go for a s400/s410 as there in your price range, very light rifles and accurate,i dont like em myself but LOADS of people do so you wouldnt go far wrong with one of them.

All the best

Luke

as said i have a gas ram and trust me there is hardly any recoil the bit there is you honestly dont notice it. and as i have already said you dont need to go to the expence of buying a diver bottle or pump and they are very accurate. at the end of the day you need to get what suits you all we can do is give you a idea and leave it up to you to make the final decision and put what has been said in to practice. hope you choose wisely and dont just rush in to any thing and remember go for what is best suited to you.
