As SSS says there's plenty of info on here or have a wander over to 'The Hide' or 'Long RangeHunting' in the US. And don't forget to check it under its 'Weatherby Vanguard Labelm

As to value of the stock, there are some cracking composite ones avaiable from places like South Staffs Stocks and several others in the UK. So you could always buythe base model and upgrade a good gun with a better & bedded stock .... you have options that help you decide where the good value is!!!

The Hogue or B&C stocks with the full length bedding blocks although not thumb hole are super accurate and a better option then the Hogue pillar ones that come with the Howa's.

The Laminate thumb hole varmint stock that comes with the Howa is a very comfortable stock, a joy to use and very well made. However to get the best out of it you will need to have it pillar and glass bedded so don't forget to add that to your costings.

I have this stock on mine and I can't fault it. Well worth the extra in my view.
