Ferretboy111
Set up today with a mate on a rape field we have been watching for the past week, set up ready for the early flights at 7.30! had some come in to our decoys, we were using decoys, a flapper and a whirley! then at about 11 everything stopped and nothing came in again so we stopped shooting at 1.30 with only 6 in the bag. This was, to our dismay rather disappointing, not only did it rain on and off all day but the 200 pigeons we saw feeding on it were obviously not today. Catamong
Ferret, The reason why they suddenly stopped coming in at 11.30 was beacause they found an alternative nearby field to feed on unmolested. When this happens, and you are two to a hide, I would suggest that one of you jumps in your motor, drives around the area, and when you find the field that they're feeding on, get out in the field, crack a few shots off to get them moving again and they will often come back to your pattern. I had the same problem yesterday, I shot over a field that I knew would produce, but half a mile down the road was another field which was also drawing a lot of birds. The farmer assured me that somebody would be covering it, but nobody turned up, net result was that I packed up at noon with only 27 in the bag. I couldn't be bothered to crack them back my way because i'd put my back out when setting up, and the thought of carrying even more deadweight back to the car put me right off, so I called it a day..!! Stealth Stalker
Sorry Catamong The misses had me babysiting my niece and nephew all weekend  I take it they're still there then? S.S P.S Why the name change? HH
ferretmanabu
only 27?!!! I'd be smiling for the whole week if I consistently shoot more than twenty.
Catamong
SS, This was a different location, but I just happened to be the only one shooting in the entire area that day - I reckon it must have been too cold for the other "regulars"..! The pigeons made a monkey out of me - I got so bored at one point I was sorely tempted to shoot a damned feral that kept on coming back time and again to the deeks, but I reckon they're not worth the price of a cartridge..!! See my other posts or the (tongue in cheek) reason for my name change. Catamong.
old rooster
Conditions are way off for decent shooting, was thinking of going out this morning but when I took a look outside decided to fix my car instead. Need some good windy days now, its been cold and calm for a while and barometer has been all over the place.
Catamong
Old Rooster, Forecast for our area is wet and windy for the next few days, which should be better, but we could do without the rain. Catamong.
