docholiday
Got a call on Friday from a farmer who has some rare breed sheep, seems a fox had been worrying the lambs so asked if we could deal with it. I had an early start on Sat so my partner and I went up 8 o clock in the evening and had a good look around, the lambs were in a sectioned of part of the field with a wood bordering one side. any way we dicieded on best positions for safty and seeing the fox, radio checks etc and settled down. lots of calling but nothing then about 9.50 a roe appeared along with some badgers so things were starting to move, just on last light I checked behind and there was a vixen trotting away from the lambs across the field, bit of a long shot (264 on the range finder) but it was the only one I was going to get, fox stopped and sat facing me and the 6.5 did its buisness nice brew and congratulations all round, 1 hr drive home and up at 6 to go fishing, I fish out of lymington with a friend, nice 21 ft boat so we went about 6 miles south of the Needles and in great weather and a neap tide had this fella within ten mins At 13 lbs 3 onz he was just specimen size, lots of dogfish, small tope etc and then I hooked into this one again 13 lbs but not that big for the blondes we get this way, rest of the day was bits and pieces a few mackrel for the Barbie and home. both skate went back alive so a good weekend all round doc Edited June 7, 2010 by docholiday

docholiday
nice work Doc, what bullets are you using in 6.5? Hi Nick 140 gr Federal, its what I use on the deer, and therefore gets used on the od fox as per my ticket doc ps I have a friend who is going to reload some of my spent Federal ammunition, but to be honest the federal groups so well with the Sako 85 I am not sure how much difference it will make to me apart from cost Edited June 7, 2010 by docholiday

docholiday
Marvellous. I like the look of those binos btw. Do you like them? The dogs nuts, brilliant optics in low light and range finder, could just do with being £800 cheaper doc
adam f
Nice fishing. The boats a Pirate 21 right? My offer of a days fishing for a days shooting still stands and with the summer sea fishing now in full swing it's ideal time? Drop me a PM if you still fancy it? Whitebridges
I bought a pair of 8x42BN Leica which are a few years old now doc. I honestly thought they couldn't be beaten but things move on. I baulk at the cost of upgrading though. Cheers.
