proTOM1
Had a call from my mate at 11am today asking if i was interested in a bash on some laid barley ,which i jumped at as have not shot over laid barley in a long time . He picked me up at 2pm and we headed for the farm on the way he told me it was the old type barley with much longer stems than the type we have now . When we arrived the field was nearly all laid from the rain over the past few days and there was plenty of birds coming and going .my mate dropped me off on the north side of the field under an old oak tree and he headed to the far end . I was soon setup with just the rotay out the front unlike my mate who has every decoy and gizmo on the market  i was soon in to the action with birds coming straight for the magnet ,after an hour it started to rain but it did nothing to the sport ,my mate was now getting plenty of shooting aswell .The rain stopped after 1 hour and things got very busy for a while then they stopped coming to me and all went to my mate tho i was getting the odd 1 or 2 . In the end we packed up at 6.30pm after a good few hours sport . Pic of what i shot taken from the chiller 71 picked up tho lost a few behind in the wheat and my mate shot 89 (he sells his to another game dealer ) so all good

yickdaz
well done mate  thats the earliest bag i know of on laid cereals this year. although having said that most crops this year seem to be well on at moment with the good weather we had in april and may will be keeping an eye open now on any barley on me perms.
