blindeye
i have held a firearms licence for a few years and had no problems with variations to the licence in the past , but as i delivered my licence to the police today i was told by a firearms officer i was not entiled to shoot until my licence is returned. i am adding a calibre to it . not removing one .?the problem is that they told me it would be about a 3 - 6 week wait until i get it back .which seams like a life time . any help would be great on how i stand . cowboy1403
if it wasn`t legal to shoot they wouldn`t tell you to make sure you have enough ammo whilst it in for variation
Devon Fox
As above -- you can still shoot! just wont be able to purchase rounds while its away (I would keep a photocopy incase you are challenged in the interim)
deputy dog
I just put in for my variations. And my FEO also told me to stock up on plenty of what ever ammo i need. As my ticket may take a few weeks to come back. So i take it from that i am legal to shoot whilst my ticket is in having a caliber put on it. Otherwise why would he suggest that i buy extra ammo. Perhaps the officer in question is some what new to fac laws. But if it wasn't legal to do so, i wont have gone out with my gun today. Paddy Galore!
B******t....... if it was illegal why do they let you keep your guns??? as above. you already have a licence for the guns in your posession, the fact that you've handed it back for a variation does not alter this. if you are questioned by the fuzz, ie. where's your ticket ? then all they need to do is search your details on their computermebob. a good idea to carry a photocopy and your permission slips tho.
