Bore sighter.

Bore sighter.

Marmite.

Some find them handy & very usefull.

I find one very usefull, not used much but a handy bit of kit at times.

Some think they are a waste of money.

Well made & not cheap so I regard it as an investment.

If you change scopes or rifles once in a blue moon then yes, waste of money.

Any one use them & can put up good reasons.

Personaly I thought I'd never need or use one, now I've got one I've realised over the years It would of saved me so much grief with offset mounts & scopes that were slow to adjust or even just stopped working.

The haters will say waste of money & useless.

Any lovers out there with a good word for them :good:

Simmons, Bushnell & Hawk do bore sighters & the Hawk is also called a shot saver.

Bought a new rifle couple of weeks ago took my scope with me to the shop, fitted the scope and used a boresighter for me, not even on the paper!

I removed the bolt boresighted myself in the field and straight on the paper, waste of money to me.

waste of money imo; only one i ever found useful was one for a shotgun, shaped like a 12ga shell so fit in the gun like a normal cartridge and shine down the barrel.

only time theyre useful is if you want to do the box test on a new scope without firing off any shots, and even then imo a green laser that bolts onto your scope is more useful :good:

I've had exactly the same experience 3 times with the same gun shop.

The mark 1 eyeball is a lot more accurate and cheaper than a bore sighter.

Bore sighting by eye is not exactly hard work and I have always got it on the paper that way. I have 7 FAC tools and do change mounts/scopes/stocks/ammo a reasonable amount, I also know when I need to re zero.

This requires a shot or two, no bore sighter is going to be good enough.

I personally have no use for them.

ATB!
