243Win options

Chaps..

I'm just about to add another calibre to the cabinet...

243Win.

Currently reviewing a few options on what Rifle to go for, and to be honest current top of the pick is an RWS Titan 6 - as I currently have a Titan 3 in .223Rem which is quite simply superb!

I'd like to make sure I'm not missing out on the other two popular options (700, T3) in this price range....

I will be reloading, for both Fox & Deer in this calibre. So say 75 - 100 grain ?

Can any one offer some picture uploads of targets showing typical groups / general accuracy from one of the above two models?

I see the 700 has a huge following, but I'm conscious it appears to need trigger kits and the like to make it shoot.. Something I'd try to avoid if I have to.

The trigger in our remmi (22.250) was ****, but now it is done the rifle i superb.

Sitting on a stool and using a bipod on the roof of the pick up it is very capable of 1/2 inch groups at 200 yards using federal premium 55 grain ballistic ammo.

i will say though that the nightforce scope helps a lot, could'nt get groups like this when we had th 8x56 docter on it.

i knowit is a different cal. but the rifle is great.

I had the same dilema a few months ago and I looked at em all and searched every scrap of info on 243's I could find. In the end I bought a .243 remington sps and I love it. The Tika shoots very well, I did my dsc1 rifle test with it but I thought it felt cheap and didnt really like the feel of it plus spares are expensive and its not unknown for bolts ta break.

I picked the 700sps because I like the feel of it, packing the stock with foam takes away the hollow feel of it. Its a very good action and barrel but to save money it is put in a not so expensive stock. The basic item shoots very well but there is a huge range of stocks availble if you want to upgrade later on. From all the reviews I have read on this gun it came across and strong, accurate and dependable. Also with a 9.5 twist it shoots better with 100grainers.

Seems you are right...

Met up with someone today who has one like yours but in 260 - Tells me he paid £700 odd for it

How does yours shoot?

I remember talking to a guy at Bisley who was about to turn his into a fence post after a few issues! Think it was a MK1 mind ?

sub moa at 100 yards out of the box (and that was shooting from a bipod on the roof on the fronty - i'm sure it shoots tighter from a more stable base). And that's the first rounds before i've even run it in.

all the issues were with the MK1 stock, they strengthened the stock of the MK2.

I paid about a grand for mine (inlcuding a Predator 8 Steyr Edition Compact).

It's a difference class from the Titan and T3.

If you want a quick shoot if can probably pop out one night this week.

Trigger is dual use - just cock it and it pulls at a crisp 3lb or so.

Push it forward once you cock and it switches to set trigger at about .5lb

You'll love the safety as well, 3 stage wheel, with a 4th stage that lock the firing pin and bolt out of the way.
