dazza
Can you clone Sky cards?
agusta
No, each card is paired to the box, so if you cloned a card it would only work in the paired box.
dazza
I have a Sky HD in the living room and another Sky box in a bedroom. I can take the card from the living room and use it in the bedroom.
Lampwick
I have just had an Hd box installed, will my old sky + box work if I give it to my mum? She has an old sky box using it with a sky card but freeview!

She has an old sky box using it with a sky card but freeview! yes it will work but as it should be connected to a dedicated phone land line SKY will assume the box and card is being used at a different location and will bill you accordingly, SKY seem to have all angles covered hence Virgin/ntl going to the same card/ encryption system, much to the dissmay of many? Cheers presumably this means it won't record either? Doesn't make any sense if this is the case to install it.
dazza
I think it needs two cables from the Sky dish to record.

Yep you need twin cable and a quad LNB to replace the existing (what should be) single LNB. Although the sky+ subscription is now free you still need to be on a monthly channel subscription.
