djgeoff
just thought you might like a bit of light reading etc started crow bashing about 11am finished at 3.30pm due to heat and farmer in field later in day. my mate Ron was in rape crop with no hide just camo gear near a cow shed. I was approx 200 yds away across a small field with my back to him on the opposite of a hedge in a ditch between two very nice sity trees and overlooking a wheat field. I had got hide up in ditch. we set up here as we were cutting off the flight path of the crows from a wood in the far distance and the cow shed where they were coming for the grain etc It turned out to quite good they were coming in really low sometimes only feet above the crops and rising at the last min for the trees or to pass over the trees to the cow shed. they were that low sometimes it was hard to spot them. i must have been well hidden from them as they came straight at me sometimes and it was only when they were committed and i took my shot did they spot me. we were kept quite busy i ended up with 31 kills half a dozen or so hit but im not stopping, and 4 pigeon kills and ron got 33 crow 8 pigeon heres a couple pf pics for you, by the way the crow kills on the fence are some of Rons Spoils. the guy in the jcb was farmers son and talking to him is mate Ron, hes the chap i am picking the art of shooting up from. they were talking about the spoils of the day and farmers son was telling us they have problem with, shall we say travellers. they just knicked one his long trailers from the farm days ago, they came across 3 fields to get it! farmers are now putting bails in the gate ways to make it awkward. Frenchieboy
Not a bad days haul mate, good shooting! May I ask - are you planning on leaving those crows hanging on the fence or did you just put them there to photograph. If you are planning on leaving them there while I don't have a problem with it there are some that might kick off a bit about it saying "It's not the done thing" (Maybe worded slightly differently with a few expletives)! You might like to put your tin hat on ready for the flack mate! Edited June 25, 2010 by Frenchieboy
