similar to the sgc interview - its not an interigation- just making sure you're not a complete moron and as you have the SGC - Im sure you'll have no problems- plenty of hob nobs and have the kettle on - ask questions is always a good idea- he's there to help not to grind you into submission lol

its just as les said, i got mine with no probs, the fact i got the cabinet installed before i got the visit , and that i already had land for shooting that i had gain permission on for my shtgun may have helped too, but the visit was plesant just like a formal chat, just be honest with them and as les said if you not sure of something ask, good luck,

The only real difference comes down to the differences between the licences (SGC and FAC). He'll ask why you want whatever calibre you have asked for. He may ask you a few questions designed to test your knowledge of the pros and cons of whatever you've chosen (mine didn't on my initial application but did for my variation).

It's always seems a lot more daunting than it actually is.

What are you putting in for?

Hob Nobs ..... NO NO NO NO NO! -- my FLO likes jammy dodgers  :look:

As everyone has said, just relax and be yourself - the lady who comes to see me spends more time on the floor playing with my German Shep' than actually talking shop!

Hello mate!

He will want to look around the land unless it's already cleared for your calibre choice, always good to have a map of the permission with you tho. have you asked for moderators, enough ammo, night vision? I'm not 100% certain but if you want night vision then i think you have to have it listed, best to ask about that on the day as he can always add it on the application.

How many calibres did you ask for? He will ask you why you want each one.

Lets go through some good reasons...

FAC air- close range bunnies, small vermin, roosting birds (pigeon & corvid)

22lr- bunnies, pests/vermin.

22lr s/a- for multiple bunnies.

.17HMR- long range bunnies.

C/F up to 22/250- all legal quarry, fox, inc occasional small species of deer (munties & Chinese water deer)

C/F .243 & above- all legal quarry, fox, inc occaisonal deer (all species)

You shouldn't have a problem with any of our feos, they've all got their heads screwed on straight.

Steve gatfield can be a little abrupt but not unreasonable, just show him you've got good reason to own these calibres and you'll be fine.

atb,

gram.

cheers for all replies , and gram , 17 , 22lr , 243 all with mods and fac 12g . all land cleared for 243.

all signed n ready to go .

does paddy do any of norwich anymore ? he done my sgc and ive known him for 30 yrs .

He does north of the city now, don't know if that counts you or not, but he's swapped sides, steve wells did my feo visit last month and i'm south norfolk.

Only one 22lr? i reckon you'll need at least 2, possibly 3 as you might need a back up if the first 2 go wrong.

Remember, you don't have to fill your ticket in any great hurry, but at least give yourself some room for change if you should need it later on.

Have you sorted yourself out for a 243 yet? got 2 in nelsons, an old but tidy parker hale for around £300, and a new remmi vls synthetic stainless for about £800.

Sorry to hijack the thread but out of interest, how soon after sending the form should you expect your visit?

Mine should have arrived at Hindlip Hall on Friday (SGC renewal & FAC grant)

could be anything from a few weeks to a few months, my application wasn't very long at all, but subsequent variations have taken a bit longer.
