Fisherman Mike
I took my best ever bag on chickweed on Sunday last 88 birds in 6 hours 9 til 3 It was sprouting in abundance on a barley stubble field which has been left un tilled. The birds have been feeding on it for the last couple of weeks and have ignored the winter rape in about 6 boundary fields. The birds came in 2s 3 s and 4s throughout the day but very few single birds which was strange. they didnt seem to have a set flightline either just piled in from all directions from the surrounding woods. I hit a couple of really high birds also... including a crow, right on the limit which with a 16g and 26g of No 6. I thought was pretty good shooting. I had 129 spent cartridges and this is probably the best I have shot for some time. though I say it myself. saw several Woodcock and a couple of Golden Plovs which was also nice. I would never shoot them though....cant see the point. Cheers FM.
ROB REYNOLDS UK
sounds like you had a good time never shot pigeon over chickweed before but i think you would need full bodied decks am i right or at least sticks under the shells ?? Fisherman Mike
The stubble was still a little upright and i just rested 12 shell deeks on the stalks in a large circle and had a electronic flapper each end end. They were landing in the circle, or at least they tried to FM.

HAMMY
I have shot them on Chickweed often, they seem to prefer it better than several alternative food sources. Hammy
Jonnyni
Shot them on chickweed once. We had gone to a bean field which had been ploughed in the day before but on our way home found 3 fields together with stubble/chickweed. We shot 90+ (can't remember the exact number) in about 3hrs sharing the same gun.
