docholiday
Yipee on my hols, started well on sateurday with http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...p;#entry1120504 For the rest of the week have organised fishing trips with the guy I share a boat with, cracking neap tides and we planned to spend it targetting the larger species 9 - 12 miles south of the Needles. **** law on sateurday we wanted the wind for the pigeons and it was as still as anything, first part of this week and it is blowing old boots. Had a look at the forcast late last night and there looked like a window early in the morning so we were off at six and went from Lymington through Hurst and tried to get down to Christchurch ledges to try for bass bream and skate, not to bad in the solent but when we went around Hurst it kicked up worse than we expected, so the only place left was in the lee of the IOW just east of the needles, not my favourite spot but it was that or come home. We had a steady supply of fish My fishing mate and had 17 of these fellows, this was the largest just under 2 lbs, we kept 4 and the rest went back to grow a bit bigger. also had 5 dogfish and half a dozen mackrel. not the greatest day but it was nice with a few fish, sandwiches and a brew in the sun. forecast not great till thurs/frid but will let you know how we get on cheers doc Edited July 5, 2010 by docholiday
