I am a little surprised at the question but see you boldly display the BASC logo. Perhaps easiest to ask them as the answer to your question may be very short or quite long! edr
Hi I've just turned 15 years old and currently hold an sgc and air rifles. Dont take my legal word for it but, i believe that only a 'private' swap could take place and you would have to 'give' the items to each other as there is no facility to put down 'swapped' on the certificate. So the shotgun would be noted as 'given' and then there would no need to record the air rifle and cartridges just a straight swap. Hope it helps EDR

I display the logo proudly and have had alot of help from them regarding the police making up their own laws when gaining my FAC to do with my age. They got it sorted asap, i posted this on here because its only a small niggle
alexr
My understanding is that you can be gifted a shotgun at 16 but can not buy one. I supose it comes down to whether you can agree to gift one and other the guns rather than regarding it as a trade. But to echo the other posts on here get some proper advice from the BASC as I may be talking poo.

alexr
Check out the legal advice here http://www.basc.org.uk/en/codes-of-practic...of-practice.cfm It states quite clearly that it is an offence to sell a shotgun to some one under the age of 17. it is not an offence to own a shotgun under the age of 17 but that gun can not be purchased by the minor. it has to be gifted to them by someone who can legally own, and logically I suppose buy a shotgun. You can have an SGC at any age, with in reason. the advice "you can geta shotgun at the age of 14" is correct but fatuous under the circumstances. Get some proper advice. Talk to the BASC. Lez325
i was thinking of swapping my air rifles for a cheapy 20 bore or some cartridges but as i am only 16 what are the legalities? AT 16 you are not LEGALLY allowed to own an air rifle so how can you swap something you are NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED to own? and as a member of BASC you should be aware of the VCR bill which made air rifle ownership under 18 years of age ILLEGAL here- http://www.basc.org.uk/en/codes-of-practice/air-rifles.cfm Les Edited July 8, 2010 by Lez325

Therfore is a swap was arranged i would'nt be paying any money for the shotgun so it would surley not count as a sale?
Lez325
No I guess not, but in your original post you indicated you owned these air rifles- hence my response- get your Father to swap the air guns and gift the shotgun to you Les
