pimpkiller
Hello, ive got a tasco 3-9-56 scope which was fine until recently. the picture is fine on 3x mag but when i turn it up it gets more and more blury. It seems the mag and focus is out of sync. Any ideas how to fix this? thanks
John_R
Sounds like the scope needs the parallax to be brought down to air rifle ranges.

pimpkiller
the front lens did actually become loose at some point so i took it out and re-fitted it which sorted that out, but ive still got this problem with a blurry image when zooming. I didnt touch any of the internals just put the lens back into its rubber mounted collar at the front. The scope worked fine before with a crystal clear image at all mags. I cant see whats gone wrong the front lens was just basically a chunk of glass with no mechanics, its spotlessly clean. Would the orientation of the front lens matter which way up it goes? obviously i havnt got it back to front.

Scopes are filled with gas..nitrogen i think,if you,ve opened it and let the gas out then i,m afraid it,s now NG and it will probably be cheaper to buy a new one than get it re-filled. John_R
I would set the mag to 9, and turn the front lens until you achieve focus at around 25 to 30 yards. Once you have done this, leave it and see how you set on.

pimpkiller
I thought the gas was just to stop condensation? the lens flopped out of its own accord it was barley hanging on i dont think it had a proper seal to begin with and didnt have this problem i could hear it rattling. I bought it with a bsa lightning XL tactical for £50 and already stripped/serviced the rifle so if the scope is stuffed at least im seeing how things work Ill try either screwing the lens in more or less and see what it does then probably bin it if there isnt any more i can do. ill let everyone know if it makes a difference it might be interesting to see. Andy H
The nitrogen is in there to create a super dry enviroment if there is no trace or water vapour then it cannot fog up with temperature change ,If you want i can rig up a filling setup. with 99.9999999999 % nitrogen. pimpkiller
right then ive got it sorted the lens sits in a screw cut coller with a rubber ring at the front and a thin screw in coller at the back, this hold the lens together then this unit screws into the front end of the scope. Now heres the thing, you dont actually screw it in all level and tight, you view the picture and screw it in untill its clear. When the lens is focused you just the screw on the last ring onto the front of the scope, the lens unit actually sits "free floating" with just some thick grease stopping it from unscrewing itself free. it seemed obvious now that of course it would matter how far in or out the lens is sunk into the scope for focusing, i just didnt expect it not to be tightend down. John_R
Just as I thought, so now let's see how long it lasts. You might find it gets fogged up, or mould grows inside, but until then enjoy it.
demonwolf444
how old is it ? word to the wise tasco scope company got taken over (i believe, please correct me if im wrong) , i recently wasted money on one of their scopes, what used to be a reputable company is now substandard. i know if i were you i would use an old trick i was taught, firstly get some clingfilm , throw the scope away and keep the clingfilm .. rather more usefull ( for keeping your cheese from going hard , bread from going stale (the list goes on and on and on))
