al4x
I think you are ok, however don't use a starting pistol that looks like a handgun in a public place as you will get nicked for it
PERCE
This information is on the Basc site, it takes a bit of finding so here's the link......... http://www.basc.org.uk/en/utilities/docume...7F9619666735FB5 I'd be very dubious about using one on land where you don't have written permission to use it or land that you don't own. I do know of several people who have had police issues with using them in public, as a firearms licence holder is this a hassle that you really want? jimmyb79
I contacted BASC about this, and the bottom line is that it isn't a firearm, and you can therefore use it where you like. However - you are likely to attract noise complaints etc if used in the wrong place, and if the land is owned by council or similar you may get some trouble. My local council will not allow me to use mine in their woodland as they seem to think that anyone in the woods will immediately call the police if they hear what they think is gunshot... As it stands, I have an remote control dummy launcher which set me back £200, and currently have nowhere to use it!

PWD
Lite Launcher are introducing a remote dummy launcher that doesn't use blanks or make a big bang and you can use it at a quiet area of parkland/field or garden if yours is big enough
Glensman
There was a dummy launcher on here that I wanted ot buy a couple of months batch. I was on the phone with the gun dealer and asked what the story was with buying .22blanks. He said no dice, need to get a licence/variation- even though I have .22lr on my licence! mushroom
Nothing wrong with using them on public land so long as they are legal and bright orange I got pulled up the year before last by our local councillor, a lovely little old lady by the name of Patricia. She told me that at the last meeting a "Bl##dy drama queen" (lol her words) was complaining about me using it on one of the local fields. Now I have always been careful not to do any training to shot when other dogs are around, mine aren't gun shy, their's could be Anyway I phoned the fao and he told me yep I was legal and the issue was, "was I being contentious of other people" satisfied that I was he told me to ignore the fools and carry on and if I had any issues to drop his name and he'd deal with any officers who may need straightening out But being the decent sort of chap I am I attended the next parish meeting to alleviate any fears this poor dram.. sorry chap may have had.... Well if this bell-end wasn't anal I don't know who is :o I explained the reasons I was there, what I was doing etc and considering that 14 out of 15 people there were happy with my explanations he still wasn't. Citing that my use of this GUN lol was encouraging the youths from the local schools into firearms lol He was told to give it a rest by quite a few others there. After this meeting Patricia came up to me and asked if I had anything louder than the .22 blanks I was using I said I can get a 12 bore dummy launcher that would be significantly louder "that'll do, use that from now on" she said lol she's 80 odd and not to be trifled with Edited April 4, 2011 by mushroom
