The Eating Machines

I had a walk about yesterday evening in search of Charlie. On one side of the farm I shot a couple of rabbits to peg out where I wanted to call Charlie on the other side of the farm so that the bunny shooting didn't disturb Charlie if he was about!

Even though I had decided not to shoot any in this area this evening I was sorely tempted and if you listen carefully you hear the safety catch come off a few times, especially at 1:01 where there was a classic 2 rabbits for 1 shot on offer - Good God am I going soft in my old age or what? I have in the past shot a hell of a lot of rabbits here but on seeing this it makes me wonder where they all come from! At least they are now nearly pot sized as I shoot these for sport rather than as a Vermin Control Exercise where the size would not make any difference so in just a few weeks time each of these will be worth £1.00 each to me if they are head shot - Sounds like a job for the lamp to me as I have a young lad who wants me to "teach him the ropes"!

great footage,,sometimes its good to observe rather than shoot...

Thank you, that is so true about spending time observing. When I was a youngster (A great many years ago, possible more than I would like to admit to) down on the Cotswolds it was rare that you would find me out playing footy or cricket with the other "lads from the village". I prefered to spend my spare "leisure" time hidden away in a hedge or leaning against a big old oak tree studying the wildlife - I believe it was a great priveledge to have had that opportunity as a youngster and I learned an awful lot from it that has stood me in good stead throughout the years!

observing from time to time improves your field craft, you had a strong will not to give in to the temptation ,save them for another time
