shoughton
I went out Friday afternoon with the intention of shooting rabbits with the .22 - but on the way there I noticed that the farmer was harvesting the peas. The pigeons were diving in behind his machine and getting straight onto the spilled peas. I went home, changed guns and went back. I joined the farmer in his machine for an hour or so - until it developed a fault. We then spent another hour with the repair engineer who fixed a couple of sensors. We then finished the field. When I then got to setup the decoys etc I think I was just a little late (about 6pm) - a had a couple of wild shots, but the pigeons just weren't committing to the decoys. Fortunately I hit both crossing birds (unusual for me ) but that was it. Unfortunately we had to go to a wedding all day Saturday - so I missed some good shooting I think. By Sunday they weren't on the harvested pea fields atall - they'd obviously cleared them on Saturday. I was surprised just how quick the birds get onto the field and how soon it's all over. It's just not fair! Steve

motty
It's unusual for pigeons to clear a field that quick. They probably just weren't that interested.
