weimaraner
Hi I decided to try and make a spinning target but am a bit worried about ricochet from it i will be using a 22lr on it. Anybody know if this will work? Weimaraner

stevethevanman
From 60 yards my .22LR will punch through a metal oil drum, so I guess that a spoon will not hold up too well, its spinning might save it but it cant move fast enough I would shoot at 70yds +..or else you might accidentaly destroy it Steve
weimaraner
Thanks Steve Would I need to worry about ricochets? Weimaraner
Paddy Galore!
Thanks Steve Would I need to worry about ricochets? Weimaraner The bullet will end up somewhere, so use a safe backstop at a reasonable distance.

humperdingle
Thanks Steve Would I need to worry about ricochets? Weimaraner Ricochets will always happen with a .22lr virtually no matter what you're shooting at... As the guy above says, just make sure the backstop is good. Any spinners I've used with a .22lr in the past (although much heavier steel) have had a pile of lead cornflakes right underneath. The curved surface of the spoon might deflect somewhat. fortune82
I doubt the spoon would last more than 50 shots.
shot shot
bend the spoon so that it hangs at 45 degrees. Not only will it direct any rounds straight into the ground, but it uses a nifty dimensional application of vehicular armour from world war 2 greater the angle, the thicker the metal
country-kid
what you can do to make a spipnning target is get a spoon and a coat hanger. drill a hole in the top of the spoon and twist the top of the spoon 90 degrees. bend the the coathanger into an "M" shape. then put the spoon on it so it sits in the "v" part of the hanger. push the two end of the hanger into the ground! then shoot and the spoon should spin when hit
