Too much barley stubble

Been out this afternoon and saw that the pigeons have too much choice. They weren't concentrating on any particular field, just thirty or forty on each of the barley stubbles.

Managed a coupleof dozen ferals on one field then switched and got as many again in woodies. Nice for the dog to get some retrieving exercise on stubble though.

Once the rape is cut it will be better shooting.

The two large rape feilds I was waiting to shoot were ploughed the day after they were cut, absolutely gutted!!!

yeah we have same problem some farmers don;t hang about when the weather is iffy like it has been they just want to get the crop harvested and turned in while the weather is dry.also rape stubble never seems to be around for long unlike cereal stubbles which can be around till december.
