Frenchieboy
OK Guys, as most of you will know I have a CZ452 Varmint in 17HMR with a 20 inch (Heavy) barrell which I treasure. I am now thinking about the possibility of doing a straight swap if anyone is interested for a CZ452 American with something like a 16 inch "Sporting" barrell. The only reason I am thinking about this is purely because of the weight difference. I have for several years suffered with back problems (I will not go into medical details but the doctor and specialists have said that it will never get any better, if anything it will get progressively worse and as such i have to rely on "pain killers"). This is something that I have learned to live with fairly well until the beginning of last week when my body said it had had enough of the pain killers that were prescribed to me and reacted in such a way that I had to be rushed to hospital. Because of this I have to think about the weights of the rifles that I carry about and my 17HMR Varmint is so much heavier than my Bruno Fox (Which has a sporter barrell) that the differencve is very noticable to me. My rifle is in Used Condition with a few marks and scratches on the woodwork (Which you would expect from a regularly used hunting rifle) but apart from that it is EXCEPTIONALLY ACCURATE and very reliable! It has fired about 1500 shots from new. I might be interested in doing a straight swap for my RIFLE ONLY against a CZ 452 American/ Sillohette(SP) with a 16 inch sporter barrell (Rifle Only) if anyone is interested. However I would only be really happy dealing Face 2 Face so that we could both try and examine each others rifles to ensure that we were both happy. If no offers I will look at having my barrel cut down and rethreaded to 16 inch as a way of "weight saving"! I will only send photos on request as e-mail attachments to SERIOUS enquiries and I am not open to offers for a straight sale so no time wasters please! bigstevouk
Frenchie you do realise you will need an empty .17 hmr slot to put the new rifle onto, it's not a case or just doing a swap and changing the numbers over.... hth
Aldous Huxley
Frenchie you do realise you will need an empty .17 hmr slot to put the new rifle onto, it's not a case or just doing a swap and changing the numbers over.... hth Can you not just send in a form notifying selling of it, then immediately purchase the new rifle. Surely the other user can do the same? I assume this would also be the same as a gentleman with a full cabinet, who gets rid of one gun, and immediately purchases another? jcf1
No - he's quite right because you will already have the purchase of the original rifle written on your ticket, you have to: 1) sell the old rifle 2) send off your FAC to have old rifle taken off and the slot 'vacated' in a 1-1 variation 3) wait until it returns, and then buy replacement UNLESS you have authority to possess 2 of the same calibre (unlikely). They used to issue a temporary permit to possess but stopped this. This is irritating as it basically makes it really really awkward to replace like-for-like. chelly
Frenchie you do realise you will need an empty .17 hmr slot to put the new rifle onto, it's not a case or just doing a swap and changing the numbers over.... hth This is correct. You first need to sell a rifle and within 7 days notify the firearms dept and also send in your ticket to re-open the slot also within the 7 days or you have to pay. Once the slot is re-opned you may then purchase another rifle of the cal listed as open.
al4x
yup it will be written on your ticket that you can't sell it and buy another one, in the circumstances it might be easier to just get the barrel chopped
Frenchieboy
Offer of a swap is now withdrawn. I am having the barrel shortened and rethreaded instead as a weight saving exercise! I did realise that there would be paperwork involved and it would not be a straight forward swap on the day! However I have been speaking with a RFD who does barrel shortening and rethreading and have decided that I will have that done rather than parting with a remarkably accurate gun that I trust and know! Even so I would like to thank all who have advised on this thread! p.s. Before anyone tries to help by pointing out that I will have to get the rifle re-proofed if I want to sell it after having the barrell shortened - I already know that!
