ash243
tika what calibre? it will be either 1 in 8 or 1 in 9 and it one full rotation of the bullet head in distance travailed the best way to tell twist rate is to insert a cleaning rod with a patch on a reasonable tight fit and put a mark on the rod at the top pull the rod out of the barrel the rod will spin when it has completed on rotation so that the mark is back on the top of the rod put another mark and measure the distance between the marks . George Hey George - I thought it was the other way around - example - if your barrel has a 1 in 9 twist - this would mean for every nine inches the round travels along your barrel - it would revolve once - I think thats it! - Rob. chrisv
Having checked my Tikka handbook, Tikka lists the 6.5x55 as an 8" twist. Edited August 8, 2010 by chrisv

Dekers
GMK/Tikka say 1-8 easy enough to check.... Stick your cleaning rod and a patch or mop up it and mark rod...note the rotation and distance! ...but bit's 1-8 http://www.tikka.fi/pdf/specs/LiteStainless.pdf
