Hi Caplock

Just looking at the Photo indicates to me that there as at some time in the guns history been a problem extracting the chokes as it looks like they've siezed in and had to be removed by tapping a Chisel with an hammer on the slots where a spanner should interlock.

Its as if the gases have got between the thread on the choke and the barrel inner

and blown it out. :)

Just my 2 Ps worth :)

Hiya Ive

The 'toothed' notches are the choke indications. The actual squares that the wrench fits in are clean and to my knowledge the chokes have never been seized. The gun used to be cleaned after every use but I dont think it warrants it now!!

The photo isn't that clear but I think it's powder residue sat in them now. It should make a good cricket bat if anyone needs one.

Cheers John

I can only assume a partial blockage has done this ................Next time you go to a game fair have a look in the basc tent at a shotgun that had the wad stuck in it .

The barrel literally exploded due to the build up of gasses and nearly took the shooters feet off ,so I was told

i have seen 2 'bloopers' when clay shooting, its very obvious when it happens, only if shooting was mad fast would you not notice. the lack of recoil i am told by the shooters whom this happened to, was the first thing they noticed, as with recoil anticipation then jerked the gun as it went off, and becuase no recoil canceled this out, it felt very strange.

the most supprising thing is how hard the wad is to get out of the barrel, its stuck very soild. (fibre wads both times)

on one occasion i saw the lead actually fall out the barrels and drop about 5ft away.

hope it never happens to me, more to the point, i hope i would notice.
