the_commoner
got a text from a pal who knew i had been looking for another dog, 11month old sprocker, free to a good home, owners didnt have the time as the wife had to go back to work in a couple of weeks so felt it unfair on the dog as they couldnt exercise and give her the time she needed. over we went to have a look and low and behold, away i went with a new pooch !!! settled in well last night, no major drams but there is still time she has basic obedience training, not very good on the lead, good recall so far and is very biddable, fingers crossed in a year or so she will make a fine successor to my current cocker. any tips or comments would be appreciated ! ziplex
She's a nice looking little mutt, all the best with her , try a trailing lead for her pulling.

ziplex
ziplex, can you elaborate briefly ? Attatch a 10ft, or so, length of lightweight lead or webbing to her collar and let it run along the ground...if she forges ahead stand on the lead and use whatever command you use at the same time. It will stop her instantly and she'll learn quickly. If done right you'll only have do it a few times, and she'll walk on a loose lead/to heel in no time. That's a fine looking hound WGD, I thought that too about the Sprocker...sideways on it's very similar to our old Springer, and my little young Springer bitch looks more like a Sprocker than a Springer! if that makes sense?
