dave dog
Do any of the members know or have had any thing to do with these. Has put in for variation for 243 and seen one in an RFD near to me. He said a bit oif barrel burner. But he has no experince with this caliber. He recond on 600 shot life span is this fair. Its fired 150 shots so its 1/3 though is life or have any one out know any different or just body swerve it. Whats the take on this caliber. kent
If you run them fast enough to gain anything worthwhile the case tends to stick in the chamber till it cools, to be fair the .243 win will do a barrel in quick enough and you need a fair long barrel to gain anything from an Ackerly. For hunting purposes the std .243" win is plenty fast enough for anyone why waste money on dearer ammo, shorter barrel life and have everything harder to obtain
Rem223
It looks like even Browning have given up on the super short mags. Performance gains are marginal and brass may become hard to find in the future. I would give it a wide berth to be honest. They look really good but they don't really offer much over the standard .243 win.

Dave What do you want to do with it? ....and I think you will find 150 is 1/4, based on 600 Regardless, and I know little about the WSSM, just why would you want a rifle with maybe 450 shots left in it and then perhaps a £500-600 re-barreling job? I make that £1+ per shot in barrel wear alone, over and above ammo costs??
243ack
I know of two (Winchesters). Both are tack drivers with a variety of bullet weights. The owners love them. Barrel burners??. Codswallop.
kent
I know of two (Winchesters). Both are tack drivers with a variety of bullet weights. The owners love them. Barrel burners??. Codswallop. std .243" win is recond to be 1500 rounds competitively, this is the reason it isn't more popular a .243 ackerly held the 1000 yds british record for some time until recently (by Peter Jackson of Jackson rifles) but you just don't see them for this reason, it's less than a season for an f-classer and basically a case of develop the best load then buy a new tube and start again That said 1500 is a bit of shooting for the average stalker or foxer but even the std win is not one to plink about on the range with that much. The 7mm WSSM is perhaps the best of these type of cartridges but for a 6mm the gain is negligable and the downsides vast. My own std .243" win has perhaps done the 1500 still shoots spot on but coppers up bad after a dozen or so, i will change the tube as soon a the accuraccy drops might go 6x47 though for the longer life which is the same bolt head size action size as the win
