Nice afternoon under a flightline

It's been a bit of a struggle of late. Spent a fair bit of time driving around looking for a few birds. Hopeful of some action today on some fodder beans but despite these had been cut earlier in the week the birds weren't on them. Should be good for next week though, fingers crossed. Plan "B" then or was it "C" or even "D"? A rape field two down had been cut and it was blue with pigeon. Went and got as close as we could and there were a good 1K or so there through the binocs. They were lifting off and moving a fair amount as the wind was 20mph here today at least. Couldn't get on it as "too close to the start of the pheasants..... and the partridges.....blah,blah". Fair call and this is Norfolk.

So we thought we'd try a flight line. In position by 10.00am. John took his trusty SBS 12 bore and a few boxes of "Proper Pigeon"cartridges, 30g No.6. He loves these BTW. Now available at Morston Country Sports in Holt at about £45.00 a slab. I saw him shoot a few stonkers, he kept moving about trying to fine tune his position. I opted for the easy line up a hedge row and used a Rottweil 20 bore with a bit of choke. Nice little gun, really good for the money. We saw a lot of birds and shot 43 between us in 4 hours before the flightline moved. It was really challenging shooting and a cracking way to spend a few hours.

Cheers all.

Cheers boys.

I meant to mention something i've heard on very good authority. Like a few other folk on here I like Hull Sterling Game 28g 20 bore in a photo degradable wad. Apparently the wads and hulls were supplied by Fiocchi but this has recently stopped. Hull are having difficulty in sourcing new materials and this cartridge will shortly change as the components will have to be different. I've just stocked up as I believe it's hard to beat just as it is. Anybody heard similar? Or more details? Thanks a lot.
