rjimmer
I see the rooks have started nest building!! We're having a 'blackthorn winter' at the moment, though.
Cranfield
I sat in a hide today and watched some very industrious rooks, in the country park, at the end of the field. They were wheeling around and calling all day. I also saw a cock pheasant chasing another one around, for what seemed ages. All the time they were making grunting noises. Spring is definitely coming. harryhawk
In the cherrie tree outside is a missle thrush sat on eggs, they started their nest building 3 weeks ago and what a big nest with loads of sheep's wool. Last week i spotted the first sand martin so the swallows will be along soon but you know what they say about 2 swallows.

harryhawk
This was very uncommon and if one of my work collegues hadn't said theres a swallow it would of gone unnoticed. Managed to put the bino's on it and clear as day it was a sand martin. They normally arrive a couple of weeks ahead of the rest of the migration but this is plain early. supergame
About 6 years ago I spotted a swallow on the 25th of March. Poor little chap probably never made to April, probably froze to death. If he did survive I bet he didn't breed, I should think his nuts froze off.
Hammergun
I've got my eyes on a rookery I'm now allowed to shoot. Gonna make myself some rook pie this year!
