stefnc
Hi all! The permission I shoot is around 60 acres consisting of 6-7 fields all containing cows. Im having a problem with foxes and I only have use of shotgun (and want to do them myself hence why not got someone with open license) plus if anyone- my mate kyska would have first chance if he gets open. anyways the foxes are only ever seen at night and with there being so many cows it just isnt particulaly safe to shoot 90% of time. But there is a few acres of woodland where the foxes must frequent, so im just wondering if its safe and possible to build a highseat and bait below and shoot the crafty b@st@rds when they arrive!? cheers

Shadowchaser
It can be done. Best to use 42gr size 1 shot shells. And be within 30 yards when taking a shot.
henry d
Spread some tinned tuna thinly across the area you can shoot and sit it out after a week of baiting every 2 days. Best of luck and don`t get disheartened.
Dekers
Baiting can often work, but it can be very labour intensive, you need to get the location right and timing right, on the whole do not leave bait out 24/7, it will be taken by birds etc. You need to leave it out generally between dust and dawn and when take is establised bring your time in, training charlie. I tend to use the cheapest dog food available and a sturdy dog bowl, use the same bowl, don't bother cleaning it, and use the same bait and get the same person to bait it....like I said, it CAN be time consuming, but it can be done....and just remember, there is seldom 1 fox!
