Mixed Bag Over Fresh Wheat Drilling

Had a good day out today over some wheat that's just been drilled this week. Quite a random day though as there were a few heavy showers in which the birds totally vanished and also had some busy periods then bits where i never had a shot for around an hour. The Pigeons seemed to be wary of the decoys today so they made me work a bit harder but enjoyed some testing shooting. When it wasn't raining i had some lovely sun, finished on 36, 20 Pigeons and 16 Blackies, 1 Pigeon was lost in the beck and another in some thick bushes.

good bag there, better than my bag, i was up at westow today on a drilling, there was nothing about (farmer rang yesterday evening and said there was 100s on...but he often tells me that!)

are you seeing many about at yours?

i have seen some big numbers along the a64 (huttons ambo estate i think) on fresh drilling and stubbles!

i will agree with above..your gun is a looker!

There has been some decent number of Pigeons and Crows during the week but not many about at all today for some reason.

Where in Westow were you shooting?

just before you get into westow, on the right

i didnt get any shots though, saw 1 pigeon well up about 2 fields away heading to the big wood down towards kirkham!

I am going to have a word with the keeper at huttons ambo (he seems a really nice bloke) see if i can get a day or two on there, a friend used to go (i went with him a cuple times) but hasnt been for ages so i am hoping to take his place, but we shall see

maybe they have cleared the field of food and have left for grub elsewhere now!?
