Browning GTS
Had a "woody" today only thing when it came down it wasn`t wild but it was rushing to get some where, if you know what i mean. Has this happened to anyone else? :*)
NorfolkBoy
Sadly.....Yes.....I carried its 'identity chain' on my keyring for two years as a guilty reminder.. :*) :(
Catamong
Browning, Funny you should say that, one of my prize birds has not returned tonight - that one cost me £1500. I'll accept a cheque, (or Paypal). Seriously matey, if you can't tell the difference between a racer & a woodie, you shouldn't be shooting, and if in doubt, don't pull the trigger. Cat. Browning GTS
Not always so easy when you are flightline shooting from a wood.

Yes, but if you couldn't identify it as a Woodie, then why did you shoot it..?? Perhaps you should enrol in the USAF..??, they have a terrible habit of shooting first and identifying later. There really is no excuse for mistaking a racer for a Woodie. Cat
Browning GTS
Cat. Feral Pigeons are permitted to be shot, can anyone tell the difference apart from the leg ring, when they are on the ground.
Cranfield
You don't find racing pigeons on the ground, unless they have gone "wild" and joined the ferals. In flight, racing pigeons have a totally different flight style to wood pigeons and are very easily identified.
lurcherboy
Browning, it happens so dont beat yourself up over it. Got a mate who keeps a few and he says if they are landing they aint no good to him if they mix with others. However, if you shoot one thats just tired and was worth £50 k, well the owner would be gutted and I am sure you would. There is a website that allows you to put up the ring number so the owner knows. But beware, this can backfire on you, and the owner may not see the 'accident' side of it. Others will thank you for your honesty. Its you and your consciences decision. LB
