Free virus protection

I agree that AVG and malwarebytes are excellent programmes and when I have computers passed to me to fix, I always add AVG to them if there are no antivirus progs loaded.

Sometimes a virus will prevent an antivirus programme from being installed. When this occurs, I go to the norton web site (yes I hate them too but this works) and run an antivirus check directly from the internet. As it is not a programme loaded on the pc, the virus cannot stop this from running so it normally finds and fixes the problem. To access this free virus scan, go here.

Hiya, What that Redirect trojan does, is, it wont allow Maleware , adware, Spybot,or AVG to update, it then closes thm down, allowing even more attacks....

Symantec...arghhhh, Norton!!! run, head for the hills !!!!! :good:

I've tried Malaware, AVG, Adaware plus a few others, plus I had a paid for Webroot Spysweeper that I've now cancelled, as my laptop has got a virus thing I cannot shift!

Every time I google an address or even just open this site, I get redirected to loads of different sites, such as AskJeeves, Amazon, Ebay and other search sites, some of which cannot be removed and I have to close the internet and start again..its Pi@@@@g me off royal now, I nearly threw the laptop at the wall yesterday..really :good:

How do I get rid pleeesss :good:

This sounds like the 'K Directory' virus. I tried various free software, but the biggest issue was it wouldn't allow me to download many of them.

I use Norton and deccided to contact them. One of their ladies downloaded a tool called NPE (Norton Power Eraser), this scanned my pc which took all of about five minutes and that was it.....gone

Go here as I did, http://www.myantispyware.com/2008/11/05/ho...trojan-tdsserv/

Follow the info, download the TDSS removal software, and hey presto...all gone...

It's actually Kaspersky that does the "hit"...very good too,.

This is the bit you want...

Use the following instructions to remove TDSS, Backdoor.Tidserv, Alureon trojan.

Download TDSSKiller from here and unzip to your desktop.

Any probs, PM me..I'll try and help you through it..I know how annoying that redirect is...<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I think I have this redirection virus at the moment. The Norton Protection Centre keep flashing up telling me they have blocked a trojan horse but then the internet explorer opens another tab at the top of the screen; sometimes as many as 5 new tabs. So I gonna try downloading this Spyware Doctor; any other advice would be brill lads.
