BB at this time of year pigeons have gathered into flocks and once pushed off a field my not return that day.I always feel more confident when there are pigeons flying and dropping in and not all on the ground when i arrive.

dont be in a hurry to use your magnet ,just see how they respond to the decoys first.

Happens at this time of the year BD, most if not all on here will testify to that.

At the moment the birds are moving around in big flocks, very difficult to decoy ,and if you do manage to bring them in, one shot scares them off.

Think of this time of year as a PR exersise (ie you and the farmer)

Your just a mobile scarecrow, for now.

Give it a few more weeks and the flocks will split up and hopefully then the sport begins and your flappers and whirlers and peckers and WHY will start earning their keep.

Anyway think how many Carts you are saving lol.

Regards Sutty  :(

iv had this for the last 5 weeks or so and am sick of it  so im packing up for 3 weeks and going back to clay busting to get my eye in for when they do come in ..they just aint playing ,so dont waste your time trying to pull them in to shoot ..shoot crow any thing but pigeon till they pair up things will change back to the good days  iv got better things to do than sit in a field waiting for nothing to turn up .....next year i wont be shooting or trying to shoot pigeon from the beginging of november to the beginging of march ..im keen but not that keen .bring on the stubble

avoid them mate there no good for pigeon shooting ok if your in bird watching .if your having trouble try to use a hide that blends in well with your surrounding ive two camo nets joined together green on one side and brown on other so i can swap it round when i need to blend in..or just throw some grass from near the hide on to help blend it check out my pic ive just posted youll see what i mean, good luck

All of you gentlemen who have had a difficult time decoying on rape recently should keep an eagle eye out for game cover strips of maize. Since the season ended last Wednesday the first of these crops have been chopped up and are attracting both pigeons and crows, keen to get some decent protein.

One tip if you find some to shoot over, set up your decoys on an adjacent crop down wind of your hide. For some reason, which I have yet to fathom, pigeons do not respond well to decoys placed in the chopped up maize crop. If you have to use a rotary then place it behind you to encourage the birds into range.

Wednesday of this week looks like being a good day to get out, with stronger winds forecast than of late.
