utectok
My cocker has patches on her legs chest and ears that have large 2mm or so puss spots and sores. Worse on her chest if the get knocked they have a small White discharge (puss?). Not to bad on her ears. The areas areas affected are 50mm patches here and there not all over. What is it any ideas? utectok
Vet gave her a course of antibiotics and a course of "advocate" spot solution drops. She thought it might be mites or something? We shall see! Edited November 15, 2010 by utectok
Imperfection
If she's suffering from dry skin-try adding some fish oil to her food regulary. Also, giving her an oily fish like pilchards once or twice a week will help too. You might also want to get some Hibiscrub (antibacterial soap-get it from any chemist for about £2),dilute and wipe over the spots. It will cleanse and dry the spots out. angrymallard
had to take one of my dogs to the vet for this a few weeks ago, he had red sores on dry skin which appeared to secrete puss. Anyway the vet believed it was an allergy to a cut or a flea bite etc so a course of antibiotics cleared the problem up in no time, however once treated the problem can flare up again in the future. Fisherman Mike
my oldest one as got a sore patch on her front leg , i noticed it about 2 weeks ago after we got back from beating ( but it may of been there before ). its a patch about the size of a 50p , a bit red , bit dry , no hair . anyone any ideas . Is she constantly licking her paws and scratching /licking the sore spot if so its probably an allergy of some sort which has become infected. Is she kept indoors or out. What do you feed her on? One of the the commonest forms of allergy other than dietary allergy in dogs kept indoors is the common house or dust mite. It is difficult to eradicate completely and short term treatment is Steroids and Antibiotics for the infection. Regular shampooing with tea tree oil shampoo or similar help reduce the intense itching the dog suffers. Your vet can test the dog for allergy and if it is this can develop a serum to combat it which is given in injection form. It’s not cheap however. My Springer was treated last year at a cost of £400 including allergy testing and a serum which was produced in Holland. Did the trick though. May also be the diet? Hypoallergenic diets are the best, James Welbeloved is particularly good I find. If your dog has a proper diet supplements will not be necessary. Mite infections are also a cause of this problem and cannot be detected other than with microscopic inspection of skin samples as they are often too small for the human eye. Im sure its nothing sinister that Steroids or AB,s wont clear up.

utectok
A good vet should be able to diagnose it without a scrape probably?
