Browning
I always thought it was Mad March Hares, but whilst out feeding the pheasants this morning I watched two seperate lots of hares boxing away on the stubble. This is by far the earliest I've ever seen them boxing. Anyone else have any "out of season" experiences ?

scolopax
I saw some boxing back in January. I once shot a rabbit sized leveret (thinking it was a rabbit) in mid march. I was on a hare shoot last saturday, 30 guns stand one walk one. The bag was 165 hares, alot got away, mainly the ones I shot at! I did account for 6 on one stand though. They were coming forward three and four at a time on occasion.
