lazza
We had this dog fox the other night. We had been riding around for hours. We were just about to call it a night as it was freezing cold, when we saw this fella at a nice range. Lamped him, shot him, then went home. Job done! Hunter Gatherer
I would say, Remington 700 VLS (varmint laminated stock), with Deben DMP 3-12/4-16X50/56? And a harris bipod. Close? HG
lazza
Thanks fella's, I'm quite adjusted to the cold and have good clothing and footwear to keep me warm, but I was on the limit of what I can cope with that night. Anyway the gun is a Remmy700 22-250, heavy barrel, laminated stock, and the scope is a Hawke Mil-Pro Illuminated Reticle 4-16x56. I had the trigger lightened as the standard pull needed arms like popeye or a block and tackle, and it's now very nice to use. The gun is very heavy, but most of the lamping is off of a vehicle, and it does make a little bit of noise .
Frank
Are the mounts Burris? How does the Hawk scope take the recoil of the .22-250? Cheers. Edited February 12, 2006 by Frank
lazza
Hi Frank I think the mounts are that very common make...EX PENCE SIVE . No seriously, they are Millet mounts, which I never knew until about 2 minutes ago :*) , but they were "HOW MUCH! " money. I've never had any problems with scope at all, apart from the fact that there's sometimes a waste of good air behind it.
lazza
Hi Frank, I've just had a look at the specs inthe booklet that came with the scope, and it says that the scope is tested to withstand the recoil from a .50 calibre Macmillen rifle. Just a bit of useless info!
