dj.chapman
hi all i am hoping someone on here can help me out of a bit of a muddle. i live in a gamekeepers cottage that was built in 1844. whilst up in the loft today getting the xmas decs out i found a gun under the insulation. its a 9mm garden gun in quite bad condition. the stock is full of woodworm and the barrle is a bit rusty. now i am not sure what i am meant to do with it. i have a shotgun certificate but i am sure i have read some where they are firearms. can anyone help. i will now try add some photos....... there are no names or numbers anywhere on the gun Edited December 8, 2010 by dj.chapman

I'm no expert, but I'd guess that the gun you have there would fall under the antique description and wouldn't need a licence, unless you manage to get some ammunition and intend to shoot it (ill-advised from the pics). Please do keep us posted with developments; this looks like an interesting piece
UKPoacher
Phone your local police force and arrange for a firearms officer to collect the gun for destruction. A good one only fetches around £60 and that is a bit far gone for restoration. Edited December 8, 2010 by UKPoacher
HDAV
indeed you need to inform FLO about the find they might let you keep it but i dare say it will out of proof 9mm and .22 shotshell are still available so dont think its "antique calibre" unless its some other size
