hill billy
We are looking for a club to join but want to try a few different areas, we where members of black water but it was too far to travel and trying to find a half decent spot was ni on impossible. We did go to farmbridge at the weekend which ended in a faily bad experience, we shot 3 teal and had 2 of them claimed by the guns either side of us, we sank up to our knees in the mud on the floor of the hides, two pickers up and the owner was just casualy walked around out side the hides all morning so we ended up spending the best part of 5 hours and £100 watching every duck and goose change course before coming any where near us. TJ91
get the BASC wildfowling permit booklet (if you are a member) plenty of clubs do day tickets in different areas, then you can decide which club to join!
al4x
the one gun did give you the benefit of the doubt though and gave it back thought I'd counted 5 shots on it before I fired hope you didn't break any teeth on it after the picker upper dosed it with steel 4's I didn't have a quiet chuckle at having to leave the wellies stuck in the mud and ask for help to remove them

jimmyb79
The Kent Wildfowlers KWCA Site have just bought up some land in Essex, and most of their shooting ground is not that bad a trek if you're willing to travel for your shooting...I joined a few weeks ago and bagged my first goose on my 3rd time out! al4x
I think that is the thing with shooting it isn't guaranteed, Gary will probably post a pic of a decent day they had on this spot. In this case the weather had been hard there was next to no wind so conditions weren't ideal. The mud was a bit on the thick side in the hides but hey mud is usually a side aspect of wildfowling. garyb
Unlike driven pheasants - wildfowl, like woodpigeons can't be shot to order.
poontang
Try Colchester Wildfowling Club. You'll have no problem finding a spot, we've got plenty of marsh (and mud). Plenty of pigeon shooting too if you want it, and a clay section. PM me if you want more information.
hill billy
To be fair to the club we went to in farmbridge through as al4x said we wouldnt be true sports men if it was all roses all the time, the setting, the team that organises it couldnt be any better they truly where great, there was more ducks and geese than iv ever seen in the surrounding areas we just didnt have the weather for it, it was just unfortunate about the mud ! Paid guided wildfowling never comes up to the same scratch as going out with a true wildfowler. The only exception is the more professional guides up in Scotland, there is one on here. Most who do it are chancers who own or rent land and then relieve average shooters of what I percieve as considerable amounts of money. If you want a memorable day, bid on guided flights that come available with wildfowling clubs in their auctions which come up from time to time. You get to go out with someone who not only knows what he doing, you are in the company of an association that values your support and not treating you an another to relieve a lump of cash off. Obviously conditions do dictate which is why any guided flights I conduct have to be (with-in reason) a date time and place of my choosing. This way the best experience is achieved for all.
