Meopta scope

I always thought that a bigger tube let more light through it, I can't see how that's not giving more light through the scope.

A simple sum will give you the answer, the bit that passes the light is the centre element, in a 25 mm tube they are about 16mm diameter.

So divide the front lens size by the magnification, if the answer is greater than 16mm the 30 mm tube could pass more light, if the centre lens is any bigger, most are not.

The 30mm tube generaly gives a greater range of windage and elevation adjustment, but that is all.

So basically...does it mean that you have less 'space' when looking through the scope for aiming left/right,(for wind) and up/down,(for distance) with a 25mm tube. Really a 30mm tube is only 'better' for longer distance shooting?

dare I ask how much for a 6-12x50 second hand ?

ATB :good:
