wildfowler.250
Hi I was just wondering how much these normally go for,(new and second hand)? I'm looking for one in 7X50, 30 mil tube and ideally ladder reticule. I would appreciate any inputs. I picked up one a year or two ago,(with a few marks on the outside but perfect glass) for about £144? is that the usual price? ATB

Thanks for that surprised they only do a 25mm tube! I compared my meopta 7x50 to my s&b 8x56 the other day at last light and there was very little in it. Very good scope for the money :yp:
kent
Bigger tubes cannot give more light its a myth, all they can give is more room for windage and elivation

rimfire4969
Bigger tubes cannot give more light its a myth, all they can give is more room for windage and elivation I always thought that a bigger tube let more light through it, I can't see how that's not giving more light through the scope. Hornet 6
I always thought that a bigger tube let more light through it, I can't see how that's not giving more light through the scope. A simple sum will give you the answer, the bit that passes the light is the centre element, in a 25 mm tube they are about 16mm diameter. So divide the front lens size by the magnification, if the answer is greater than 16mm the 30 mm tube could pass more light, if the centre lens is any bigger, most are not. The 30mm tube generaly gives a greater range of windage and elevation adjustment, but that is all. Neil.
wildfowler.250
So basically...does it mean that you have less 'space' when looking through the scope for aiming left/right,(for wind) and up/down,(for distance) with a 25mm tube. Really a 30mm tube is only 'better' for longer distance shooting? dare I ask how much for a 6-12x50 second hand ?
