HDAV
Well if there is a 5 gun limit set by FEO and this will be the 6th gun you may have issues are you sharing a cabinet? Or do you have your own? Really you need to check with FEO and supplying RFD. If he is gifting it to you and you have your own cabinet (different address?)thenhe may be able to pay the RFD but have it entered on to your cert directly, RFD will know Edited December 24, 2010 by HDAV
Tomm
i havei have my own cabinet in the loft i just wonderd if it was possible for the rfd to put it right onto my cert or if it had to go on to his first as that may cause a problem. HDAV
If it goes on his first it will only be on therw for 5 minutes and probably while your in the shop. Check with the RFD who will know the score. Nice Xmas present....What you getting? Also worth stocking up on carts while your there as i dont think you can buy them till 18 either noe... HDAV
Nice gun very nearly bought one myself, you never write on your own cert! Either RFD will enter it onto yours, or will enter it on to your stepdads as "bought", then stepdad enters it onto yours as "given" or "gift" if has to go onto step dads he will have to inform FEO of receiving and of disposing of it, and you have to inform them of receiving it (just makes extra paperwork for everyone, make sure you have plenty of copies of the relevant forms to hand) so hopefully he pays for it and RFD can enter it onto your cert directly, as far as i know the the actual cash purchase and the certification are seperate but to porve it may require it to go onto and off stepdads cert. Just make sure you take both certs to RFD when you collect and if possible clarify with FEO beforehand (are both certs in the same FEO region?) Have a look at the BASC site their may be some guidance on this if your a member (or stepdad is) email the firearms team Edited December 24, 2010 by HDAV
Scully
Nice pressie....your stepdad buys it(it doesn't matter if it's his 6th shotgun,it isn't even going to leave the shop with him)the RFD fills in your stepdads SGC,and then your stepdad fills in your SGc at the relevant place, stating 'given'.You bothe need to inform your licensing authorities of the transaction.Your stepdad writes that he has bought said shotgun and immediately gifted it to you, filling in all the relevant details, and you write that you have been gifted said shotgun with all the relevant details.Don't forget to take a gunslip with you,or you may have to buy one from the shop, unless it's boxed of course!Have fun! Wish someone had bought me a shotgun at 16!
rcooke25552
tom, im 16 and got my first gun gifted to me. what you have to do, is your step dad has to buy it, enter it on his cert and then he enters it on your cert. then you send that transfer form back to the police and on the left, your step dad writes recieved from (whatever rfd) and then on the same form writes disposed to (your details). you then have to send a transfer form in to saying you have recieved it from your step dad. this is what my feo told me when she checked my security. good luck

inthedark
Here's the answer to your security question - if the gun fits in the cabinet and it locks, no problem. The number is irrelevant until you get to ten and need an alarm. Dont let your FEO feed you the '5 gun cabinet' line, if it fits in, that's enough. His gun is on my cert Since when did the law change from being able to own a shotgun and ammunition providing it was gifted to someone from the age of 15? Scully
I don't know what's going on there beerdeor, your son can be gifted a shotgun from the age of 15,and can take it out unsupervised. He cannot buy his own gun or ammunition until he's 18 however.I'd be having a word with licensing or your shooting org' to get it sorted.
