Catamong
Dung, Make one yourself, you lazy *** - look at the link below, it ain't difficult - even I made a couple...!! http://www.thefieldsportsdebate.co.uk/Foru...id=1893#pid1893 The only problem you may have is getting the springs - the Game Conservancy used to sell them for about £4 a pair - check out their website. If you need a call bird, contact your local keeper, he'll give you a bird, but wear gloves when handling it, otherwise he'll peck you, also don't use a live bird before the end of March, as it's too cold at nights and the bird will die. dunganick
yes, ive set about trying to make one in the mean time, hopefully will do it this saturday. your right the springs are prooving to be the hardest part to track down. a decoy bird hopefully wont be such a problem. still an extra prooven trap wouldnt go amiss if anyone has one. Ferret Master
Hi, Nick, it is illegal to buy a decoy bird. You have to 'borrow' one of a local trapper. You could always catch a decoy bird by baiting the trap with some eggs. Break some and leave some intact. Put some straw round them to make it look like a nest. fiascoshooter
Make or get a green plastic coated wire one. Cage bird looks quite natural from 100yds away, not like a shiny silver cage which almost completely obscures the bird, and invites passers by to investigate. BIGJON
Last year as a "Call Bird" in one of my larsen traps I used a dead magpie wrapped in green garden tie wire to make it like a bendy toy. I wrapped the end of the wire round the perch and bent the bird into a natural pose... looked brilliant... 35 mins later I caught my live call bird  . If you prefer you could try a plastic decoy. Good luck... The first bird can sometimes be a nightmare to catch.
