Bowen20
thanks people for your advice i took on board what you all said and ive been looking at this rifle http://www.ukgunroom.com/viewGun.jsp?id=55371&fromSearch=true i havent had chance to phone them yet to ask what twist and so on but seems nice to me and looks superb nice stock finish etc. i think the mod is the old pred 8 erm also it doesnt come with the scope obviously at that price and regarding the price do you think its worth it? cos if it was all new it would set me back over a grand. Thanks guys but at least now i know what type of rifle im going to get now Tikka T3 SWEEET. does anyone know how to tell what twist a rifle is if the guy in the shop cant tell me? there is also 3 pics of it. have a look let me know what you think. hawkeye
One way i was shown to tell the twist is to use a cleaning rod with a patch place in the lands mark the rod near the handle with marker pen DOT. Then mark the rod near where the bolt goes in have the DOTat the top then slowly push the rod through the barrel till the DOTdoes one full circle then mark the rod again at the bolt..take the rod out and then measure between the 2 marks if for instance it is 9" then a rough guide the barrel will be 1 in 9 twist, 10" would be 1 in 10 twist and so on.. Hope this is some help to you.. :good:
garyb
You wont go wrong with one of them, I have it's bigger brother the super varmint (243) and it's a superb tool for general foxing. The only thing I changed, was that I ditched the standard 5 shot mag, for a 3 shot flush fitting version - as I found that it wouldn't balance well on windows or sticks.
