If you can consistently kill pigeons ( or anything else flying) in a 25mph wind I take my hat off to you. My kills to carts goes to hell in such winds, mind you you do remember the ones that you do connect with.

Best wind speed for decoying, 10 mph makes it interesting, 20mph challenging, above that its what my old dad used to call an Eley benifit!!.

just looking at the weather forcast and they say the wind speed will be 25mph is that a good wind speed for pigeon shooting as i dont normaly take much notice about the wind speed lol :P what would be the best wind speed for decoying

thanks

Anything above 10mph is good for decoying for a few reasons birds land into the wind and with a good wind it slows them down into the pattern ,it helps keep them on the move as sitting it the trees in a 25mph is not that easy i would think plus the use up more energy and need more food as they get battered about when flying . I love a windy day makes the first shot easy and the second very sporting when they hit that wind

i;m with what tom said he wrote the post i would send to you; again 10mph;is a decent wind for decoying then 10 to 15mph is a good wind;15 to 25mph is a good old blow and no way birds will sit around in that strengh of wind so increases your chances of a good bag if they are using your field;also set your hide so wind is blowing from your back;or to one side if not; so birds come towards you with the wind in there face :good:

We don't shoot the roost unless we have a good bit of wind. Wind covers up the noise. In still conditions it's a waste of time in my woods. I've had some amazing times in really windy conditions. Yeah sure they are harder to hit but when you do...

On Decoys any breeze gets the decoys rocking -
