Polar Orbit
I just bought me a nice Beretta Teknys for clays with a slot in the stock for a Beretta recoil reducer thingmabob. Has anyone tried these and do they make any discernable difference to felt recoil? I accept gas autos are soft anyway but would still appreciate any comments from first hand experience. Also, does anyone have one they would sell for a modest fee?
apache
What are you going to be shooting through it? Maybe worth it with big goose loads but not if you are clay bashing!
BlaserF3
When I had a Urika 2 I used one and found that it did reduce recoil, but 1/2 pound of lead would do the same. For me though it did help give the gun a more nuetral feel. Teknys auto's were fitted with one, it came with the gun. spiceychilli57
yeah think mine came with one fitted, i think
MC
I have one fitted in my Extrema, I wasn't so much worried about the recoil but wanted a bit of weight in the stock. It has reduced the recoil from the heavy loads that get put through it, so I suppose it must have reduced the recoil from all loads.
sitsinhedges
How do they work
BlaserF3
When fitted in the stock the narrow blue end is held in place by the plate which holds the stock on. It is a spring loaded device, not liquid and the recoil compresses the spring with lessens the felt recoil. They do work though.
spiceychilli57
Had people mention before that they have had the recoil springs break, just under normal use
BlaserF3
I took mine apart because it sqeaked, greased it and shot over 15000 cartridges with it fitted with no breakages. Any thing can snap though.
Polar Orbit
Thanks Folks, Mucho appreciated. Intend to use exclusively on clays ie 28 gramme loads or occasionally maybe 24's too. So maybe won't make difference you think? Must admit though, I like the idea of "Softest shooting auto on the (US) market". Agree, there should have been one fitted std, but I think it went "missing" to another Beretta before I got it. Didn't know these were spring counterbalance operated, I thought they were mercury. However, looks like they do work regardless, in spite of diddy clay loads. I thought of making one as I have a 1" Tungsten bar kicking about but if someone has one spare please drop me a note. If people are interested, the best place I found so far is Gamaleil in the USA. They do these for just about everything, including stuff that fits to forend or barrels for older guns that have nowhere in the stock. Like I said Thanks to all for your help and advice
