saxosim
Hi All I am just in the process of waiting for my license grant application to be processed. Once it comes through I will get insurance cover and have started to think about my options. I am only going to go Clay Pigeon shooting initially but may eventually go rough or game shooting. I have been looking at the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association as it includes Insurance plus a magazine etc and seems to be a good package at only £36 per year for Clubman membership. Does anyone know what the level of insurance is like from the CPSA compared to others and would it be adequate for my needs of potentially general shooting but mainly clay pigeon shooting. Here is a link - http://www.cpsa.co.uk/insurance-cover Any advice appreciated, I am in no hurry as I don't know how long my application may take to process Thanks Edited January 18, 2011 by saxosim
VicW
The CPSA insurance cover is on a par with anyone elses such as the BASC or the Countryside Alliance and is more than adequate in the cover it provides. As far as which organisation you choose then that is a whole new can of worms and one of the most discussed topics in any shooting forum.Just do a search on this one and you will see what I mean. mickmep
from what i've read and understand. cpsa gives you the insurance required for clay and rough shooting BUT you wont get much/any help with any legal disputes. a lot of people recomend the BASC which 'supports shooting', gives you the insurance AND some legal help if required. from what i've read on here BASC is more expensive than clubman cpsa, but after march will be available on monthly payment. you could also try the CCC (C3) if you're after cheap insurance only to my mind ANY insurance is better than NONE most people that come along and comment will have different views on the insurance and who you should support. Mungler
There's a million threads on this topic and lots of heated debate. Go with BASC - it's what any hetro male would do, and the women love it - get a BASC sticker in your car and you will have to beat them off with a pooy stick. EDIT: Incidentally, BASC pay for banner advertising on this site and thereby indirectly support and fund the operation of this site. If you like the site, then do the site owner a favour and click on the banner ad and sign up with BASC. Everyones a winner then. Also "in the round" BASC do the most to support and further shooting, end of. Edited January 18, 2011 by Mungler

It's "Horses for courses", as they say, if you want to shoot clays, then join the CPSA, if you want to shoot Game, join BASC, but don't, whatever you do, plaster your motor with BASC (or CPSA) stickers, because that's an open invite to the multitude of k nobheads to vandalise your motor, it ain't worth it, be smart, get them to trash the motor next to yours, especially if it's owned by an Essex man..!! Mungler
I have had a BASC sticker displayed with pride in the back of my Disco for the last 2 years without incident; mind you, I obviously live in a nicer area than Cat. As per the above, I do have to get up every morning and remove all manner of hot women from my car, having been attracted by the manly qualities of my BASC sticker. Cat's CPSA sticker (old and frayed round the edges now) just attracts dyslexic homosexuals looking for fellow members of the Poofy *** Suckers Association. You now have all the facts and can make an informed choice.
HDAV
Incidentally, BASC pay for banner advertising on this site and thereby indirectly support and fund the operation of this site. I would say the banner ad DIRECTLY supports PW financially (helps pay for the servers that host all this drivel...
