Hi All

When i was a young squaddie in germany back in 1975 i won a renault 10 in a game of poker. After the bar shut 6 of us decided to head off down town a few miles away, all of us p*ssed as rats.We couldn't get a taxi so we decided we were going in my new car.No insurance nothing we aquired some petrol from a nearby truck filled up and off we went, half way to town i put it through a hedge into a field of strawberries.we then stopped a taxi and paid him a fair old wedge to carry six of us into town in one hit.Next day military police and german police turned up and dragged me out of bed after being told how i had won the car, i of course denied all knowledge and they couldn't prove anything so i got away with that one

bought a mrk 1 escort 1300 gt bright orange for £100 quid in 1987 it was minted ran it for 3 years and sold it for £600 would be worth thousands now :cry1: :cry1:

Had one almost identical with a black vinyl roof by swapping a BSA meteor air rifle and £10. Tin worms had really gone to town on it and ended up breaking it for parts.

Best one was a 1.3 Metro back in the early 90's friend of my brother's and had run it into the back of another car, was told it was a right off and the engine "broken"

Started at £300 and got him down to £30 as mummy and daddy wanted it moved as it was making the property look *bad* anyway, went round the next day, Sat am, took one look at it and gave him £30. By the time he came back with the paperwork and new £100 stereo lol it was running. Popped the bonnet and started it up and was running on 3 cylinders, 1 ht lead later it was back on 4 :) 1 bungee strap to hold the bonnet down and drove it back to my parents.

By bro and I stripped it and made a list of bits, headed to the local scrappies and got all the bits for about £100 and had it all bolted back together by the end of the day :)

Bro painted it after work on the Monday and it was finished :) took it to the same pub the following week and saw his mate who couldn't believe his "written off" car was like new again, offered it to him fist dibs at £1700 ;) we sold it a week or two later for about £1800.. nice little earner that one.

Bought an Orion 1.6i Ghia for £100 with a short MOT with a view to sorting it then selling on, made a mistake on that one as it was bloody rotten and nothing to weld to, think it was an 86 which were known as a bad year for Fords due to cheap steel. Cashed the tax in for about £80 then broke it, made about £900 in bits :)
