Ireland's Finest!
Well lads, Myself and the auld boy went out today to see if we could get some deer. We left the house at 5.30 as we had a relatively long journey ahead of us we were parked up at about half seven just as it was coming on bright, we had a quick cuppa and then set off up the mountain to see what could be had it was about an hour before we seen anything when we eventually spotted a small herd of sika we stalked up as close as we could and the auld boy took the first shot using is Steyr Scout .243 THUD the first hind was hit, she staggered 5 yrds at most and collasped. About twenty or thirty then came out of the cover and continued up the hill no more presented a shot in this area so we went and got the hind and gutted it and then brough it back to the van it was a small one so no major hassel in getting it back. We then went back up and beyond were we had taken the first and walked on for about another hour before we spotted a load of deer across on the mountain opposite to us but not too far away. This was a diffucult stalk as the deer had a perfect view from up top of us coming up to them we continued with it anyway and we manged to get within 250 yrds of the ones lowest down on the hill they were starting to come a bit edgy so the auld boy decided now was the time for the shot so he settled down aimed at another hind and THUD second one hit she staggered about 30 yrds before dropping. We went up and got her, gutted her and started the long drag back to the van this one was a lot heavier but between the two of us(a'hem ) we got it back. That was our lot for the day, a great day out had by the two of us. Thanks
