Farmer-of-the-Futre
Ive been using my twenty bore for almost a year and just wondered if there are any better cartidges out there for it. I am currently using Express speical twenty, number 6, 28grm, some people say that 28 is way to much for pigeons in a 20 and some use 30s! just wanted your opinions on what cartidges i should get as i am running out and i am not shooting anymore game this season! Thanks in advance
garyb
28grm of #6 is ideal. Nothing wrong with Express.

Sprinter
If you get a good day on the pigeon you may find 28g is a tad much to shoot all day. What i do is to take a mixture of 28g 6 26g 6.5 and 24g 7.5. At the start of the day i'll shove 2x 28g and see how the birds behave. If they start decoying i'll go with 26g in the first tube and 28g in the second. If they really start piling in i go with 24g in the first and 26g in the second. This is plenty man enough for decoying pigeon with a 20 and cuts down a lot on recoil. The only time i shoot above 28g is when i'm shooting non toxic (or non lethal as i prefer) at duck. 28g - current favourit are fiocchi GFL20 (now called GFL28?), followed by Eley VIP and Eley CT (all are fibre) 26g - Rottweil special 20F (sadly no longer available it seems)probably switch to a lighter fiocchi when i run out. 24g - Lyalvale super twenty
