vampire
,he looks after security inside the house at night and has all ground floor covered almost 24/7 and its best not to upset him ,plus we have cameras, lights, alarms, aditional locks, very surprised though at how easy it is to pick/bump a lock i have broken in to my own home when we first bought it and it took me half an hour to get in through an externally glazed window (now replaced) as they had actually used the adhesive tape, but have been to customers houses and got in for them in under a minute with old externally beaded windows and old putty windows, seen a plastic window fitter get in through a door in 10 seconds :o which was good as i had lost the keys
throbbingfinger
My spaniel during the day is quiet and placid but at night time turns guard dog. She makes alot of noise but I don't think shed be much use. I have a basic wireless alarm with a bell box and pressure sensors connected to a klaxon and strobe outside. If I'm in they'll also get some **** from me. I do need to beef it up though. Front and back doors are upvc and I'm not happy with the security of them. I'm also not happy with my Mrs leaving windows open especially ground floor ones when she goes to work! I've also got an independent wireless fire alarm system in the house as well. I keep meaning to add a dialer but it's one of those things that I keep meaning to do.
The Duncan
i have a german shepard for security,he is getting on abit now but can still move fast when he wants.when the security light comes on at the side of the house he goes ape,and rushes the gate barking and all the fur goes up on his back, like a mohican people know to move away as he wont back down and wont shut up till they have gone nabours love him barking YEs. I had a huge GSD, considerably larger than a timberwolf and he meant business is he went! I never ever thought "If we got broken into, would Storm attack the intruder?". It was a given. There would have been blood. He was as soft as grease otherwise - he'd not murmer as my 2 year old slid down his back, from settee to floor, in fact he'd volunteer himself for the duty. When I was away on business, i didn't lose sleep worrying about wife and kids at home. I don't now either
Mungler
The amount of people on here (and who I know through work) who have home installed burglar alarms / CCTV where there is something which always needs doing - finishing off, wiring up properly, ordering the back up battery, moving etc etc
henry d
More importantly if your doors have the "EURO" style locks (the ones shaped like a keyhole) then get anti snap and anti bump ones fitted. Yes, I agree, we have had to access properties recently and were shown how to get into a euro and other types a few years ago and when the locksmith got there he was impressed at how little damage there was and he had little to do to repair the locks. 15-30 seconds for most doors
