adam f
Was out on Sun and thought I had cracking this rape decoying malarky... managed to get around a dozen birds to decoy and even hit a few... ... so popped back today for a proper crack. Conditions almost identical - set up and psuhed about 500 birds out of the wood next to the field... they didnt come back! After an hour of stareing at a blank sky I walked to the other side of the wood to see about 100 take off the field next door... packed up - moved.... nothing! Thought I'd walk up a bit of cover over the other side of the field for a pheasent - as soon as I get there about 200 pigeon come over the brow of the hill - heading for the wood and my decoys - the WHOLE flippin lot dropped in on the deeks - all landed.... about 5 seconds later they realised somehting wasnt right and lifted into the woods... by the time I got their... all gone!! Argghhhh!!! I sat their for another hour - nothing, so sod this - packed up and headed home.... walked around the corner to the car - and guess what - another 100 or so woodies where I was set up earlier and in the trees! 4 hours, not a single shot fired! Goes to show you need a few guns around this time of year.
yickdaz
like i have been saying they have been really hard as always to get on terms with on rape but the last 2 weeks even more so ;its not the lack of birds its the fact that they are just not coming back to be decoyed;but it will turn round and they will play ball for a few bags to be made. Got home to see 200 flying round the rape field behind my house (flippin land owner won't allow us to shoot it).

adam f
We'll get the ******* tomorrow Adam, now that we are armed with the rotary and rope bangers :yp: Well I did - you didnt! Even with bangers, they just cleared off to another farm up the road! I managed a couple first thing, but then they simply gave up trying to come into the wood and moved off! Roll on the summer stubbles!
