spurgate
Hi all, Scenario, you are waiting for the birds to come in and you see them flying over do you: A: wait and see if they land or fly on to your pattern or just disappear into the distance. B: If they are close take a shot and run the risk of them flying off anyway. The reason for asking is that i sat there all day waiting and nothing came, then about 20 birds came over and i did not know if they would land or not so i decided to have a go and missed anyway. I think panic set in. shows my lack of experience.
zipdog
i take it you are decoying with a shotgun. Shoot them flying mate, very few will land in your pattern. But you need to do your research and find out where the pigeons are feeding etc, this will give you a better chance of having a good day. point and shoot
If the bird's in range - shoot it. That's what you're there for - to kill pigeons. If you had left them to come in to your decoys you could have got two at best. As it was you didn't get any. A bird in the hand and all that! But never mind, at least you were thinking about your shots and that's important. Keep trying and try to take your oportunities if they arise. Good luck! semiautolee
if they are within range, go for them. try and pick the one(s) closest to you if they are not in range leave them and keep your fingers crossed that they see your pattern and are hungry. every one has to start somewhere. personally i dont shoot at anymore than 4 at a time as you risk scaring them all away if they are in big numbers eg: 20 like you say you had. you lose your concentration when they are in big numbers as you get to excited and dont no which one to go for and thats when people rush and dont hit a thing. the adrenaline kicks in i used to be the same. hope this helps :good:

STOCKY A391
Go for them certainly , if you can see the white blaze on the neck clearly they are in range.
nicelydoesit
if your confident they are in range then really you got nowt to loose but if this happened early on in the day then i would of held of a little bit just to see how they react to the deeks and then decide if anny tweeks were needed.
